Judge Duane Ford: I think Bradley gave Manny a ‘boxing lesson’ – Boxing News
While Bob Arum insists on an inquiry regarding the scoring done on past Saturday night when Manny Pacquiao lost his WBO title to Timothy Bradley, Judge Duane Ford maintains that Bradley was the better fighter. The entire boxing universe around the world
has condemned the split decision win of Bradley, considering it a ‘robbery’. Initially, all three judges stayed out of the scene but now one of the two judges who scored in Bradley’s favour broke the ice.
Judge Duane Ford defended his decision saying, “I thought Bradley gave Pacquiao a boxing lesson. I thought a lot of the rounds were close. Pacquiao missed a lot of punches and I thought he was throwing wildly.”
On the other hand, Keith Kizer, executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, notified that no appeal has been filed yet against the decision. He even went on saying, “Every fighter who loses a close fight like that wants to look at the judges.”
Last but not the least, the NSAC commission chairman, Skip Avansino remarked, “We had three seasoned professionals working and I don't question their determinations. Unless something is brought to our attention that there was improper behaviour, we're not
going to take any action. I'm not going to second-guess our judges.”
As soon as the decision was announced, the crowd booed the judges and Bradley. Bradley, who now owns the WBO Welterweight title, was irked by the crowd’s reaction and he immediately granted Pacquiao a rematch. Bradley notified that he wants to make his victory
more decision and that he will do so in the rematch. On the other hand, at the post-bout conference, Manny Pacquiao claimed that none of Bradley’s punches had hurt him and that he is looking forward to the rematch.
However, Pacquiao was kind enough to give credit to Bradley for his hard work, despite the fact that everyone else was questioning it. The Pac-man even urged fans to stay calm and not to blame boxing as a sport for whatever has happened. Pacquiao accepted
his defeated and told Arum that he wants a rematch soon to get back his titles.
