If you have a judgement against you, beside garnishing wages, can they take money out of your checking account?

  2. No, they can only garnish wages.

  3. They can put a lein on your account and seize any funds to pay off the judgment.  They can also file a lein on other property of high value to get the judgment paid.

  4. Yes they can, they can also file liens on any property you may own like cars, boats, land and homes.

  5. I've known some who have had the bank accounts frozen, but this is usually after a court granted the request to do it.

  6. If it's an asset, it can be attached.  In cases of people having money in their checking account, the worst I believe a collection agency or lawfirm could do would be to freeze your account so that nothing can go in or come out of your account until you resolve the balance.   <")))><
