What is a sign? of an event? Would these qualify?

Tell me if you agree if these prophecies are happening or possibly will occur + why.

no hatred please. Some predictions simply cannot be prophecies- lets hear some responses!

some signs are:

1) people will kill other people, both those killing and those killed will not know why they were killed or doing the killing (islamic scholars in Africa think it could be a reference to child soldiers; i think its possible: watch blood diamond!)

2) the children of destitute bedouins will compete to build lofty towers in the desert (Dubai- the grandpa is in the desert- the grandson is in his mansion or high rise tower

3) Wars increase, more deaths

4) men and women go around dressed, but in fact they are not dressed (islamically they are naked)

5) s*x will be widespread and in public, and nothing can be done about it

Islam has many signs. google "hadith gabriel" to get what i typed up above.

  1. Yes, you're right war, clothing, s*x, and towers are modern inventions that are unnatural. Actually, no, they are not and if it were a sign of doom then we would have been gone a long, long time ago.  What we have to fear is overpopulation and fear itself. (last part not my idea).

  2. Go Icabod!

There's always something that can be squeezed into vague prophecies in every generation.

In a hundred years, people will be assigning different events to the same prophecies.

You should have put this in religion or mythology, you'd have got more answers.

  3. Well, there's always some people willing to construe just about anything as signs of just about anything else.

Name ONE time when there weren't people killing other people, with both groups including people who didn't know why?

Dubai isn't the first time lofty towers have been built in the desert.

With more people, we have more wars, and more deaths.

In most societies most of the time, people have not dressed as some forms of Islam prescribe.

s*x has always been widespread, and in many cultures has not been considered a ghastly secret. No one has ever been able to "do" anything "about" s*x.

  4. The movie "Men In Black" has a line that somewhat runs"There's always a Alturian battle cruiser, death ray, or fusion bomb about to blow."

In short there's always someone that interprets things as the impending judgment day. The most recent film version of this is "The Happening."

After 9/11 there was a supposed Nostradamus quote that made the round. It was faked but many believed it. In the 1940s he was also credited with foretelling Hitler. Back in the 19th century there were a number of religious groups that expected judgment day on a certain time and date. Many even gave away their worldly goods. I suspect the day after they were asking for them back.

Periodically we have groups going underground to escape a disaster and sadly groups such as "Heavens Gate and Jonestown where followers kill themselves.

"Cherry picking" is the process where one gets an idea and then goes around finding evidence for it. Stuff that disproves the idea or doesn't support it is ignored.

Take the stuff you quoted. In fundamentalist Islam, (Taliban) women are required to have full coverage. To be hooded and look out through a lace mask. Otherwise they're harlots. OK fine. Throughout all of human history that's been the extreeme exception. Therefore does not wearing full coverage count as

"s*x will be widespread and in public,"?

Each New Year's the newspaper tabloids have their psychics make predictions on the coming year. At the end of the year skeptics review the predictions and show the abysmal score on even the 50/50 predictions. ("she will marry" is a 50/50 prediction)

Try researching some of the "urban legends" and skeptical sites.
