Judo vs Taekwondo - Who will win?

If an Olympic Judo Gold medalist fought an Olympic Taekwondo Gold Medalist (of the same weight category), who would win?

Judo would win 99.99% of the time, especially if they fought in gis.

Normally I would say Judo. However, I do know some TKD practitioners who have fought Judokas and won. It all depends on the fighter, not the style.

Well, since we are talking about 2 people that are at the top of their game (they wouldn't be in the olympics if not) I would have to give it to the Judoka. I say that because I saw ufc 1-4. If the taekwondo user doesn't land that magic strike to put the judoka down before he gets into his grappling range then it is over. If you can watch the first UFCs and see for yourself why the fighters started including Brazilian Jujitsu and Wrestling into their training.

Judo,get inside of taekwondo guy and floor him,mind you in MMA taekwondo is really really useless,Karo Parisian utilises great judo in the UFC but even he has had his *** kicked by a ju jitsu practitioner.

Guess some taekwondo person didn't like my answer,fact is it doesn't translate well into full contact fighting,fought against 3 people who studied this,never went past round one,they cannot take low point kicks or elbows are are next to useless on the floor...in short looks good but is not effective in a real fight....

Which ever one is good at keeping to their game plan.

The Judoka will try to get in close in order to throw him. This is however not emphasised that much so the Judoka.

The Taekwondo Medalist, however, will try to keep his distance so he can kick, but again, this is not emphasised in Olympic taekwondo. Atleast I don't think so.

So the fight will go to the smarter fighter.

I think the judo guy would win because if he can throw him and get him on the ground he can submit him. The taekwondo guy can only hit, so that cuts his chances of winning.

Depends on the person using the skills, you can never put one type of martial arts against another. I like TDK better because of its style. Mix those two together and u have another good form of martial arts.

Judo fighter. Once the judo fighter gets inside and grabs a hold of the tae kwon do guy it's all over.
