Jui Wei, Kuan Hao qualify for Men’s Doubles quarter-finals of 2012 Singapore International Series
The spirited Men’s Doubles team Jui Wei Liang-Kuan Hao Liao overwhelmed Shohei Hoshino-Akira Kobayashi and trod into the round of eight in Li-Ning Singapore International Series on August 16, 2012.
This pre quarter-final battle kept both contenders busy for 50 minutes before ending with 17-21, 21-18 and 21-7 margin.
This three-set match was full of drama as the Japanese campaigners were in strong position to seal a straight-set win at one stage but Jui Wei-Kuan Hao came back from horrendous start and secured the honour.
The Taipei shuttlers proved a little lazy in the opening game as they could not move swiftly across the court and dropped many valuable points.
On the other hand, Shohei-Akira played fast badminton and did not give their rivals even a single chance to match their pace.
They got into right momentum straight away in the beginning when they prevailed in couple of nonstop rallies and made difference on points table. They did not lose this rhythm at any stage and kept moving at steady pace.
Though, they were just a nail ahead of their challengers at half time but still they managed to finish first set with a respectable difference in 21-17 score.
The story was entirely different in next game as Jui Wei and Kuan Ho switched on the best after finding themselves one down and counter-balanced the situation by clinching second match point.
This time they played with right attitude and fortitude and employed an authoritative approach. They set the ball rolling with few uninterrupted rallies and maintained that rhythm all the way to game point situation.
The Taipei players served the notice of supremacy in both sections of the game as they ended the first half as leading contenders and then stole the limelight with a decisive figure of 21-18.
This revised match score position made third set consequential as both teams were just one step away either from quarter-finals or a woeful exit.
Conversely, it turned a flat contest as the twosome of Jui Wei and Kuan Ho ruled the court and sealed their win with an overwhelming total of 21-7.
Now they will lock horns with Wahyu Nayaka Arya Pankaryanira-Ade Yusuf in the round of eight.
