we get juicy juice - no sugar added and 100% vitamin C. My son wants juice ALL the time. I water it down 3/4 water, 1/4 juice usually. If i give him 10oz it's seriously gone within a minute. Is this dangerous/bad for him? He's 2 1/2 yrs old. I turn him down for juice probibily 10xs/day but let him have about 3-4 cups. This good? THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE!

  1. im not trying to scare you just make sure he doesnt have diabetes  one of the symptoms is excessive thirst

  2. its not good...have you tried to wein him? (tell him there are little bugs in his mouth that love sugar and will eat his teeth)-not completly untrue :) even if its no sugar added, there is still too much and the sweetness may make him want more sweets.

  3. Maybe 1-2 cups a day is ok but no more than that. Even the 'no sugar added' juices have natural sugars from the fruits. It can seriously mess up their teeth and still lead to cavities. What I have done for my 3 year old daugher is bought her a water bottle that she really likes, and put ice water in it. The thought of plain water is not attractive to her, but she will drink ice water any time, and it is good for them.

  4. its fine, you water it down.

  5. No he should not be getting that much.  I gave my son about the same amount and it started to rot his teeth away.  There is a lot of sugar in juice even if there isn't any added.  It can also give him the poops and that is never good.

  6. this may sound a little weird but watch his pee...if its yellow give him water and let that work its way though his system before u give him anymore juice. If hes not getting milk at all in his diet you need to think of a plan to get him his milk tell him there is a new flavor of juice you want him to try and add strawberry flavor to the milk. also its good that you are adding water to the juice so that way hes getting a little more water in his diet.

  7. My son was the same way and we had to put an end too it. He was gaining weight too fast so we had to scale back. We found that if we buy bottle water and make it super cold and let him take it out of the fridge he will drink it. I would just let him know that he can only have juice at lunch and dinner and that is it. I hope you have luck like we did. Good luck.

  8. Toddlers shouldn't have any more than 4-6 oz of juice per day, so it is good that you are watering it down.  You should try to get him to drink water and milk though.  If he won't take plain milk try making it chocolate or strawberry milk.  Obviously you can't force him to drink the water and milk, but you can continue to offer these to him, he will eventually take those too  :)

  9. Juicy Juice still contains a lot of sugar though.  I would try giving him water or milk.

  10. He is probably not getting more juice than is good for him, but he is getting into a bad habit.  Start only allowing him to have juice or milk with meals and snacks, and the rest of the time only water.

  11. Totally have the same issue with my 23 month old daughter.  Here's what I do.....

I have gradually watered down the juice so much a literally put a splash in the sippy cup to satisfy her.  She wants to "see" the juicy bottle and watch me 'pour' it in.  I fill up a bunch of sippy's with mostly all water during her nap....store them in the fridge, and when she asks for "juice" I grab one and fill it (which means, barely any juice) to the top.  She's happy, I'm happy, and her teeth are happy.
