Have you ever, how long, and what we're your results. I'm a happy, fit, healthy person, just love green smoothies and juices and have the time this summer to try out a juice fast and would love to get some thoughts.

  1. I've done a few juice fasts - just to clean out the cobwebs and whathaveyou.

I don't fast for longer than 5 days. I love (solid) food and I find that I miss it way too much to fast longer.

My body felt better afterwards. I had more energy when it was all over.

    Here are some tips:

~Make sure the juice is from a juicer. Never, EVER do a juice fast by using commercially-produced juice from the grocer. It's not good for our bodies.

~The days leading up to the fast as well as the days immediately after the fast are just as important as the fast itself. Wean your way off of soild foods slowly so your body is not shocked when you start the fast. Day 1: eliminate processed foods and stimulants (like coffee, alcohol, cigarettes). Day 2: eliminate all animal sources. Day 3: eliminate starches. Day 4: eat only fresh fruit and vegetables (raw). Day 5: make a huge pot of vegetable broth and drink that all day along with some (decaf) green tea. Over the course of all 5 days, drink plenty of water to help flush your system. Start the fast.

~After the fast, don't immediately return to your normal diet. Start with day 5 and do everything in reverse, gradually building up to your full eating habits again.

~It's okay to mix fruit juices and veggie juices throughout the fast.

~Certain foods have great health benefits for certain organs. Cabbage and beets in juice form are great for cleaning the liver. You shouldn't drink more than 3oz of each per day, though. Juiced garlic is great for cleaning the blood as is cucumber. Juicing a pineapple with the skin on will give you a good shot of bromine - which relaxes the muscles. Juicing ginger relieves stress and headaches.

~Try not to do rigorous exercising while you are fasting. Since the juice provides calories only (no fat, no fibre, no carbohydrates) your body will not perform well. Low impact and meditative exercises like yoga will help cleanse both the body and mind.

If you want more info, pick up "Juicing for Life" by Maureen Keane and Cherie Colbum. They have a good section about fasting and they also have a ton of great juice recipes. About.com also has some good info.

    Good luck!

I've done a 8 day fasting that's this green juice thing

you take like 8 ounces 3 times a day and all you drink is water.

maybe the worst 8 days of my life

    but I lost 16 pounds

and I didn't even need too.

it just gives you gnarly headaches the first 3 daysss

but it totally cleanses ur body, literally
