I am currently in Aikido, and I plan to stick with it, but I want another, more offensive martial art to go with it. My friend was talknig about Jujitsu, and it sounded interesting to me. But teh problem is, I am tall (5' 11) and skinny, and to be honest, weak. Would Jujitsu be okay for me?

  1. It will be great. You will develop more strength as you train. You will find that you will use some of the same techniques especially if you are talking about traditional jujitsu..

    Good Luck

  2. you would be ok with jiujitsu - Japanese or Brazilian. You would probably be very good at BJJ because you will have a better arsenal of submissions available to you initally.

    hope this helps

  3. Japanese Jujitsu ( traditional jujitsu ) would be excellent for you because, just like Aikido, Jujitsu teaches technique over strength and speed.  Jujitsu's "soft blocking" is about the same conpevt as moving "off line" in Aikido.  As you learn jujits you'll even begin to understand why the "samurai" utilized "The Gentle Art" on the battlefield especially looking at it from the samurai in his armor stand point.

There's no doubt jujitsu would be a perfect art for you to have under your belt as a Aikido practitioner.

Good luck and best to you.

  4. Hi, I am cutie pie's husband, i want to tell you that jiujitsu would be great for you because taking jiujitsu will for sure make you much stronger. also, jiujitsu is about leverage and body positioning. it`s very much mental...like a chess match.every move you make is being countered by your opponent and vise versa. i recommend brazilian jiujitsu because it`s a more refined form with no impractical techniques that don`t work in a real stuation.

  5. its fine i take jusitsu and it is great. i dont know about your strength tho because im ok in there and im pretty strong so you might have a hard time. buit its up to you ultimatly it doesnt matter about your body type or whatever just your effort and skill

  6. Aikido is a humane form of a number of vicious Japanese jujitsu styles that it descended from. At one time Japan had over 300 styles of jujitsu. If you take both Aikido and jujitsu you will find many complimentary similarities and being good at Aikido will make you better at jujitsu. Steven Segal excelled at Aikido so learning jujitsu with the Machados was no difficult task for him.

  7. It's about the heart, skill, determination, dedication and motivation...you can do it, but I mean if your truly a weakling increase your calories to gain a few pounds and muscle.  I witnessed a 5' 5" less than 150 lbs guy choke out a 6' 0" 210 lbs man effortlessly. Judo is cool too.

  8. yes but it is still d4edencive in many ways id recommend wrestling or like jeet kune do for this problem
