Jules Bianchi crashed VJM05 while trying to test the limits – Formula 1 news
Jules Bianchi said that he will try to get closer to the limit on Thursday.
Bianchi though suffered a crash in trying to test the limits of the car on Thursday. The car slid hit the ramps side-ways. Bianchi came out safe although the car is a bit damaged and needs quite a bit of work before it is ready for more testing.
Bianchi got his opportunity to ride the VJM05 on Wednesday and set the fourth fastest time on f the day. He completed 46 laps in total and handled the car pretty good.
Bianchi said that he was quite happy with his drive and is going to push the car even further to test its limits.
“It was a really good morning and great to get my chance in the new car so early on,” Bianchi said. “There was a lot to get used to, especially the steering wheel and remembering where all the switches are, but it didn't take too long before I felt happy
in the car. It may only have been half a day, but the team asked me to do quite a lot of things and we managed to complete almost 50 laps before lunch.”
He said that for him the year has been a learning curve and has helped him a lot. He has taken the day as of great importance to his development as a driver and also important for him to gel with the team better.
Bianchi added that he is very excited at the prospect of getting another go and will get to test the car even more which will be good preparation for his role in the Friday practice runs throughout the season.
Bianchi drove for Ferrari in the young driver test which was held in Abu Dhabi in 2011. Although he was not able to meet the pace of Jean-Eric Vergne who was clearly ahead of all the other drivers on the grid, but he came close and impressed with his driving
skills.
Bianchi’s move into the Force India team is a big positive for him as it will provide him with a lot more track time.
