Jules Bianchi sets pace on third day in a row at Magny-Cours – Formula 1 news
Jules Bianchi, on his return to Ferrari, has topped the timesheets for the third time in a row on the final day of Young Driver Test held at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours in France.
Bianchi set the best time of 1 minute and 16.985 seconds behind the wheel of F2012. Moreover, he covered 138 laps and collected the essential data for making the necessary evaluation about the updates.
It will be important to mention that the French driver also drove for the Scarlet team on the opening day of the test and later ran Force India car on the second day. Furthermore, he showed impressive pace during all the three days of the test and impressed
everyone with his driving skills.
Rodolfo Gonzalez set the second quickest time of 1 minute and 18.018 seconds on his first day with the Silverstone based team and expressed that he had an amazing experience overall. In addition, he said that he is very pleased with his performance in the
test and is extremely happy as he managed to collect reasonable data for the assessment of the upgrades.
“Today has been a great experience,” Gonzalez said. “The conditions were quite difficult to begin with because of the wet start to the day, but it was good to try out the wet and intermediate tyres. The other main task was getting used to the control systems
and building my speed and feel for the car. I'm quite happy with my pace today, although I think there was more to come because it was my first time driving at Magny-Cours and my first time in the car.”
Besides, he was followed by Brendon Hartley who drove Mercedes car, W03 and remained busy in testing the updates including the new exhaust layout and the double-DRS which the team intend to launch in the Singapore GP.
Over and above, the test ended up well for all the three teams. Although, the wet weather conditions hampered the test run during the day, however, the sun came out in the afternoon which helped the drivers to gather the significant information about the
update packages of the cars.
