Juli Inkster in the Kingsmill Championship roster
American Juli Inkster may not have won an LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) event since her last victory at the Safeway International in March 2006, but the star golfer has not lost hope, as her fans want her to shine at the coming Kingsmill Championship 2012.
The Kingsmill Championship 2012 is scheduled to take place from September 6-9, at Williamsburg, Virginia, but what has grabbed the media's attention is a rich field full of top-ranked contenders.
Inkster boasts a solid profile that speaks of her stunning accomplishments in women’s golf, but she has not been able to display her trademark performance that has helped her rack up 31 LPGA titles in her professional career.
Battling multiple injuries for months, Inkster is now fighting for her survival. However, the American star has expressed her desire to call it quits on several occasions.
Inkster has been one of the most successful female golfers in the world, and making an attempt in order to regain her lost glory seems difficult, if not impossible, at the moment.
Since female golf is undergoing a transition these days, as young players are making their mark in tournaments, most of the golf crazy fans have stopped pinning hopes on veterans. Although senior players like Inkster cannot be written off as incapable, winning an event is still an uphill task.
Inkster recently spoke to the media and shared her thoughts about the future. She said that she is considering ending her career by the end of this year or maybe she will play a little in the next season.
She said in another interview that her game slumped because of multiple injuries, and it became hard for her to stay focused on golf.
“Well, basically I quit playing golf after Lorena's tournament last year. My elbow just wasn't feeling very good and I had a couple PRP procedures where they take your blood, spin it and put it back in,” the 52-year-old said.
“So I waited 10 weeks for that to see if that would help it out, then went out and tried to practice and it wasn't very good. They knew there was a tear in there, they just didn't know how much. So in the middle of January decided to do the surgery”.
