Juli Inkster vows to join LPGA once again
Juli Inkster is in high spirits these days, as she is focusing more on how to deal with tough times coming ahead in events.
The 51-year-old Inkster is quite happy that she has recovered from her debilitating injuries.
Inkster has played golf for over 30 years now and her excellent performance speaks loudly of her resilience and strength.
The American veteran had to face a number of injuries, forcing her to pay more attention to her physical condition than what she was doing on the course.
Injury-hit Inkster faltered, lost momentum and ended up staying off the course.
However, she said that she is now more determined than ever to resume her career in an impressive style.
Before she can handle her club and hit balls on the course, she will have to fix her physical problems first.
Inkster knows that the new LPGA season has kicked off. She did not participate in any of the event because of the surgery she had recently. Her right elbow is having tendon damage, which put a drag on her game.
Inkster said that she had lost hope when she was planning to undergo surgery, as she was missing out on several prestigious events, which was something her fans raised concerns over.
According to the details, Inkster will not be able to join the LPGA until mid of this season.
The injury woes are not new to the 51-year-old, as her elbow had been troubling her for the last two years.
Analysts said that being troubled by elbow injury had taken a serious toll on her, but thanks to consistency, she continued to hit balls on the course.
Despite what she had been going through recently, her past performance is enough to keep her motivated.
She recorded 4 top-10 finishes — a feat that helped her eclipse most of the LPGA players.
The total number of her victories on the LPGA is 31, which highlights that the American star has what it takes to bounce back. Her last triumph was recorded in the 2006 Women’s British Open.
Although rebounding in the presence of players like the current world number one Yani Tseng and Suzann Pettersen will not be easy, chances are that she will regain momentum.
Inkster recently shared her feelings following her surgery. She said that she has been put on a special diet, as she finds it hard to chew normal food.
She said that her therapist is very supportive and this is what is giving her hope to regain her lost glory.
She said that the elbow problem has long gone, but the weakness is still there, making it difficult for her to focus on her putting.
Since the right elbow is protected with a brace, she is carrying out her tasks by using left hand. She said that walking her dog is included in her daily routine now.
“The poor dog is walked to death,” Inkster said this week, chuckling. “Every time I grab the leash, she just cringes. … It’s a different lifestyle for me”.
According to observers, Inkster may take some time to set foot on the course once again, but she can overcome her physical woes rapidly if she stays focused.
“This gives me something to work for – to get back to health and get back to playing. I know it’s not going to be easy playing against 16, 18 and 20-year-olds. I know my age. I am not going to be No. 1, but I can compete out there. It’s not a job. I enjoy
it,” Inkster said.
