Goerges is in good shape this season so far and made a semi-final berth at Auckland and reached the quarter-finals at Charleston before losing to Elena Vesnina. She then helped her country win against America in the Fed Cup where
she overpowered Melanie Oudin before entering this WTA Premier event.

She perfected her winning ways into the second set as she reeled off the first five games in a row. The German then held her serve in the seventh game to seal the match with a breadstick. Although she had a similar first serve
share of 63 percent, she earned an amazing 92 percent win on it. Goerges again conceded zero breakpoint and converted two out of five breakpoint opportunities to her advantage to help her win easily.
The Dutchwoman on the other side of net was in good shape though not as good as the German. Krajicek had a slightly lower first serve share but clobbered several unforced errors and six double faults which made the difference.
Goerges will next face 4th seeded Belarusian Victoria Azarenka who received a first round bye for being a top four player of the tournament.
