Julia Goerges reaches Miami for the Sony Ericsson Open 2012 – Tennis News
German booming star, Julia Goerges, landed at Miami for the Sony Ericsson Open 2012 on Thursday night. After a successful ongoing season and an impressive run of form at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and at the BNP Paribas
Open in Indian Wells, Goerges is all geared up for her upcoming WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) Premier Mandatory event taking place on the hard courts in Miami, United States.
The 23-year-old stated in a social networking site after reaching her destination, “Miami.”
Despite being on fire this season, she is looking forward to improve her game in order to overcome top players at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park.
Goerges recently displayed her spectacular skills at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden and outclassed the British number one, Elena Baltacha, in straight sets in her opening match. She then carried her momentum into the following
set and eased past the 24th seed, Anabel Medina Garrigues, to reach the pre-quarters.
"Anabel played some really good tennis and we had long rallies," the German said after dumping Garrigues. "It was a tough match, but I just tried to stay focused and play my game, and just dictate when I could. At the end I was
pretty happy to pull it out."
Regardless of crashing out to the unbeaten world number one, Victoria Azarenka, with a breadstick, her performance was appreciated by everyone and she was hinted of securing the top-ten rank.
“Lost a tough match today against the no.1 Victoria! Well will take a lot out of it. I still like the tennis I am playing since some weeks. Next tournament Miami...but first a nice day off tomorrow in Indian Wells.”
Ranked 15th at the WTA rankings, Goerges outclassed everyone at the Dubai WTA International event held last month. She cruised on the Arabian hard courts, stunning the defending champion, Caroline Wozniacki, in straight
sets before bowing out to Agnieszka Radwanska in the title-round.
Goerges is seeded 15th at the Sony Ericsson Open which is taking place from 19th March to 1st April in Key Biscayne. She is looking forward to maintain her intensity and reach far in this event.
