Julia Sebastian pockets Women’s 100m breaststroke gold – Jose Finkel Trophy
Julia Sebastian of UNISANTA pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 100m breaststroke on third day of the 2012 Jose Finkel Trophy in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Wednesday, August 22.
Sebastian demonstrated her astonishing efforts in the breaststroke discipline and met expectations of her supporters by proving her eligibility for gold medal of the event.
With her immaculate efforts, she remained almost full body length faster from her toughest opponent as she rushed her way towards the finishing blockade for gold medal with timing of 1 minute and 08.24 seconds.
She was followed by Ana Carla Carvalho of ECP/SABESP, who remained 0.76 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and tapped the wall for second position with an effort of 1 minute and 09.00 seconds.
Carvalho was chased by her teammate, Tatiane Mayumi Sakemi, who stayed just 0.01 seconds slower from securing silver medal of the event and tapped the wall for bronze medal with a timing of 1 minute and 09.01 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Renata Paula Sander of FIAT/MINAS, who stayed just 0.07 seconds slower from reaching the podium and settled on the finishing wall as fourth fastest swimmer by producing a time of 1 minute and 09.08 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Juliana Marangoni Marin of FIAT/MINAS, who suffered a deficit of 0.41 seconds from her former finisher and clocked a time of 1 minute and 09.49 seconds.
Marin was followed by Beatriz Azzolini Travalon of ECP/SABESP, who proved her mettle for sixth position by hitting the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 10.03 seconds.
Seventh best place of the race was secured by Cecilia Zuppo Zaccarelli of ECP/SABESP, who stayed 0.50 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and posted a time of 1 minute and 10.53 seconds.
Zaccarelli was chased by her team-member, Carolina Hurga Mussi, who ended up her swim in eighth best place by posting a time of 1 minute and 10.55 seconds.
In addition, Sebastian was delighted with her top finish in the 100m event and expressed her desire of doing the same at forthcoming events.
