Day one of the 2011 Canada Cup concluded with the remarkable swims of Julia Wilkinson, Wu Peng, Katerine Savard and Ryan Cochrane in their respective categories at Montreal, Canada, on Friday, July 1.
Julia Wilkinson won the Women’s 200m Individual Medley meet with a sterling time of 2 minutes and 12.26 seconds. The win moved her to 13th spot in the international swimming rankings of the current year. Meanwhile, Alexa Komarnycky earned the
silver medal in a time of 2 minutes and 16.77 seconds. Stephanie Horner grabbed bronze after posting a time of 2 minutes and 17.12 seconds.
In the second event, Wu Peng captured the Men’s 200m IM crown with a winning time of 2 minutes and 03.35 seconds. Andrew Ford wound up second in 2 minutes and 04.75 seconds, while Kyle Whitaker touched the finishing wall third in 2 minutes and 04.87 seconds.
Peng also won the Men’s 200m butterfly title with a dominating time of 1 minute and 56.71 seconds. The performance moved him to 14th place in the world rankings. Zack Chetrat touched the finishing wall for the silver medal in a time of 1 minute
and 59.89 seconds, whereas, Stefan Hirniak wound up third in 2 minutes and 00.83 seconds.
Katerine Savard nabbed the Women's 200m butterfly crown in a scintillating time of 2 minutes and 08.64 seconds. The victory moved her to 16th place in the world rankings. Audrey Lacroix wound up second in 2 minutes and 11.92 seconds, while Merritt
Krawczyk earned third place honours in a time of 2 minutes and 14.74 seconds.

In the Men’s 400m freestyle title, Ryan Cochrane clinched the gold title with a winning time of 3 minutes and 49.65 seconds. Matthew Patton grabbed silver in 3 minutes and 50.06 seconds, whereas, Sean Ryan earned third spot in a time of 3 minutes and 57.36
seconds.

The Women's 400m freestyle crown was won by Komarnycky in a time of 4 minutes and 08.27 seconds. Samantha Cheverton wound up second in 4 minutes and 13.22 seconds, while Susana Escobar completed her swim in a time of 4 minutes and 13.29 seconds.
