Juliane Schenk fails to find a good start in 2013 Djarum Superliga Badminton
The seasoned Women’s Singles expert Juliane Schenk amazed everyone when she surrendered in front of an unknown player Kana Ito in the group stage of Djarum Superliga Badminton series on February 8, 2013.
This encounter was a part of a match between Renesas Badminton Club of Japan and PB Djarum club.
Both shuttlers remained head-to-head for 33 minutes before ending this tussle with a decisive result of 17-21 and 11-21.
The local badminton arena of Surabaya, Indonesia was filled to its brim as a decent number of people gathered to encourage both contenders.
The first set of the match started with couple of gruelling rallies as both shuttlers put all they had to establish an early lead. They made every effort to tip the scale in their favour but neither of them could hit the mark in establishing stage.
Initially, Juliane relished full benefits of her experience and kept the opposing shuttler confounded with a superior badminton craft.
However, her supremacy was really short lived as the Japanese campaigner stormed back with a strong reply and counterbalanced the situation.
The game kept swinging between them until the half time and both players made this a memorable contest.
After the mid-game break, Kana Ito prevailed in couple of consecutive rallies and established a decent lead.
She made best out of this advantage in third quarter of the set and widened the gap on points table. This impressive campaign helped her to place a winning margin of 21-17.
The second set of match was also dominated by the inexperienced but talented shuttler Kana Ito. This time she did not repeat previous mistakes and established her grip immediately in the beginning.
She unleashed a series of productive strokes and added many valuable points in her total. At the one-minute interval, she was in commanding position with a respectable score on the board.
The latter part of game saw her losing focus initially but then the Japanese campaigner reinstated her dominance when it mattered.
She maintained a notable difference on points table until the last shot was played and sealed her splendid straight-set victory with 21-11 total.
