Juliane Schenk outshines Line Kjaersfeldt in 2013 European Mixed Team Championships
Women’s Singles expert Juliane Schenk employed all of her experience in the last round of European Mixed Team Championships and defeated Line Kjaersfeldt on February 17, 2013.
This 29-minute tussle was part of a match between Denmark and Germany. Both contenders remained head-to-head for two sets before ending this encounter 21-9 and 21-16 margin.
The seasoned German campaigner played flawless badminton and sealed a splendid straight-set victory.
On the other hand, Line failed to serve the notice of her brilliance and crashed out in a disgraceful manner.
In the opening game of match, Juliane Schenk unleashed a flurry of power packed strokes and pushed her rival on back foot by pocketing many valuable points.
This powerful campaign helped her in next couple of rallies and she transformed her initial advantage into an unassailable lead.
Though, the Danish female player put an honest effort to come out of her competitor’s influence but she failed to hit the mark.
Meanwhile, Juliane Schenk injected more intensity in her attack and confounded her challenger with a series of productive stroke.
She piled up a mountainous figure of 11 before the interval and started second half of the set with a psychological edge.
Latter part of the game was also dominated by the German shuttler as she did not give her opponent even a single counterattack opportunity.
At first, she mounted pressure by adding many consecutive points in her total and then swept the table with an overwhelming figure of 21-9.
However, the following set was not a one-sided affair as this time Line Kjaersfeldt challenged her higher ranked rival in all departments of game.
She did not show any sign of confusion after the first set loss and played with great conviction in the establishing rallies.
She was in strong position until the half time but then few back-to-back mistakes weakened her grip and allowed the opposing shuttler to bounce back.
Juliane Schenk did not squander this opportunity and reinstated her dominance in third quarter of the set. She maintained a significant difference on the points table and sealed her victory with a convincing margin of 21-16.
