Juliane Schenk proved too strong for P. V. Sindhu in Women’s Singles round-of-16 in Indonesia Open
Germany’s top female shuttler Juliane Schenk stormed into Women’s Singles quarter-final as she proved too strong for the lower ranked P. V. Sindhu of India in round-of-16 showdown at Indonesia Open Premier Super Series 2012 at Jakarta, Indonesia, on Thursday,
June 14.
The World Number 7 Schenk, who is seeded at the eighth position in Women’s Singles draw of the tournament, showed her highly impressive skills and thrashed her India rival with a comprehensive score.
The in-form Schenk was on a completely different level while fighting against her Indian opponent and she took just 33 minutes in the court to end up the fight in straight games with a comfortable margin.
Sindhu, on the other hand, could not handle the aggression of her German opponent and she remained struggling in the court in the whole match. She failed to dictate the pace of rallies and eventually lost to Schenk in a one-sided manner.
The Indian started her run positively and also took an early lead but failed to stop her rival from catching up the score.
Schenk geared up her speed and managed to take a small lead of 11-9 over her Indian challenger until the mid-game interval.
After the break, it was Schenk who showed her brilliance by changing her tactics in the court and played with tremendous precision.
Schenk’s shot selection was impressive and she did not take much time in winning the opening game with a comfortable 21-14 score on the board.
In the second game, Schenk maintained her upper hand in the court by playing at the same speed and again managed a three-point advantage of 11-8 until the break.
After the one-minute interval, Sindhu tried to catch up the score but failed to match the pace of rallies as Schenk did not slow down the pace at any stage.
The German continued her commanding run throughout the ending half of second set and remained successful in grabbing it with a remarkable 21-14 score on the board.
The eighth seeded Schenk won this pre-quarter-final contest in straight games with a one-sided score of 21-14 and 21-14.
