Juliane Schenk qualifies for pre quarter-finals of 2013 Singapore Open – Badminton News

Germany’s Juliane Schenk employed all of her brilliance and experience in the opening round of Li Ning Singapore Open and marched into the pre quarter-finals on Wednesday, June 19, 2013.
This Women’s Singles tussle put her against Chan Tsz Ka of Hong Kong and their meeting prolonged to 44 minutes before ending with decisive figures of 16-21, 21-6 and 21-13.
Although the experienced German campaigner lost first set of match, she managed to storm back and lock the honour. On the other hand, Tsz Ka failed to capitalise her initial lead and surrendered tamely in the ending two games.
The Women’s Singles expert of Hong Kong amazed everyone with a staggering knock in the opening game. Tsz Ka started the beating from very first stroke and kept on playing with an authoritative approach all the way to final moments.
She raised her chances of success by prevailing in the establishing rallies and then strengthened her grip by claiming in many valuable points in a row. Her aggressive approach resulted favourable results and she finished first
half of the set with a respectable score.
After the one-minute break, she showed consistency in her performance and wrapped this segment of the showdown with an impressive result of 21-16. However, it proved her last success in this prestigious tournament as she could
not match Juliane’s skills in the following games.
Meanwhile, the German campaigner showed a transformed character in second set of the match and brought the contest to the right balance. She did not repeat the previous mistakes and established a decent advantage immediately at
the beginning.
This initial lead helped her to place a mountainous figure of 11 before interval. She ruled the court even in latter part of the game and won this crucial set with an overwhelming margin of 21-6.
The decider became consequential as both contenders were standing equal in match score position. They challenged each other in all areas of the game and remained close till the half time. However, Juliane Schenk struck hard in
second half and tipped the scale in her favour with 21-13 total.
