Juliane Schenk treads into Women’s Singles quarter-finals of 2012 Bitburger Badminton Open
Germany’s Juliane Schenk raised her chances to excel in the Bitburger Badminton Open Grand Prix Gold as she cleared the pre quarter-final round on Thursday, November 1, 2012.
Women’s Singles expert unseated Sabine Devooght of Belgium to claim a spot in the quarter-finals. She took just 21 minutes to register a favourable result of 21-10 and 21-12.
The local badminton complex of Saarbrucken was jam-packed as a huge crowd gathered to encourage the native shuttler.
Juliane, who is also the top seeded player of this GP Gold event, lived up to the expectations and wrapped the showdown in just two games.
The Belgian campaigner Sabine was no comparison to her as she could not put an effective counter-attack strategy into action and bid farewell to this tournament.
Meanwhile, World Number six Juliane employed all of her brilliance in the game and stole the limelight in a commendable manner.
She set the foundation of her supremacy immediately in the beginning of first set as she prevailed in four establishing rallies and pushed her rival on the back-foot.
She unleashed a series of power packed strokes which fetched six valuable points in a row after 4-1 total.
The German player started second half of the set with an upper hand and maintained her dominance all the way to game point situation.
She widened the gap with 17-9 and then finished the opening game with a huge lead of eleven points in 21-10 margin.
The following game was just a replay of previous one as Juliane played with similar conviction and transformed her 1-0 lead into a straight-set win.
On the other hand, Sabine Devooght hardly showed any fighting spirit and knelt down tamely in the pressure situation.
In first half of the set, Juliane gained an early advantage with 5-0 total and then strengthened her grip by placing a mountainous figure of 11.
She did not drop that pace even after the mid-game break and raised hands as victor after putting 21-12 score on the board.
Now she will be swinging arms against Olga Konon in the round of eight and win will take her into top four shuttlers of the event.
