Juliane Schenk treads into Women’s Singles quarter-finals of 2013 India Open
Germany’s prime female shuttler Juliane Schenk continued her unbeatable run in the Yonex Sunrise India Open and reserved a seat in the quarter-final round on Thursday, April 25, 2013.
She faced a young Thai campaigner Busanan Ongbumrungpan and this meeting prolonged to36 minutes before ending with 21-17 and 21-12 margin.
Juliane, who holds second spot in the tournament ranking, employed all of her experience in the game and finished this tussle in just two games.
On the other hand, Busanan could not show her brilliance on the court and crashed out of this esteemed event.
In the opening agme, the German shuttler did not give her competitor enough time to get settled and confounded her with a series of power packed strokes.
She bagged many valuable points in a row and established a decent lead in no time. This initial advantage helped her to keep the opposing shuttler under pressure.
Though, Busanan put an honest effort to come out of her rival’s influence but she could not hit the mark until the half time.
Meanwhile, Juliane Schenk strengthened her grip over the game and placed a mountainous figure of 11 before interval.
In latter part of the game, she lost focus for a short span of time and this allowed her challenger to proceed on the points table.
However, the German campaigner did not take much time to end her bad patch and reinstated her dominance when it was needed the most. She registered a winning figure of 21-17 and gained a psychological edge before a crucial second set.
Next game started with couple of gruelling rallies as both Women’s Singles experts made every effort to oust the opponent.
Initially, they remained equal on the points table but then the Thai player blundered and jeopardised her stakes. She failed to match her rival’s skills and surrendered tamely in second set of the match.
Juliane Schenk played with a cautious approach but then showed some aggression just before the mid-game break. She finished first half of the set with a favourable score position and then sealed her straight-set victory with 21-12 score on the board.
Now she is all set to take on Bae Yeon Ju in the quarter-finals of India Open.
