Julieta Granada caps off season on high note
When Julieta Granada of Paraguay showed up at the season-ending Omega Dubai Ladies Masters a few weeks back, she had already put together a solid resume and bagged enough appreciation.
A rock-solid performance throughout the 2012 season reflected that Granada was going to cap off the season on a promising note. To her fans’ surprise, the Paraguayan star finished the Omega
Dubai Ladies Masters inside 20.
She grabbed the fourth position on the ISPS Handa Order of Merit 2012 list, having earned a whopping 164,042.27 euro.
Although Granada took part in just six tournaments in the 2012 season, recording two top-ten finishes was enough to give her confidence.
Her best performance was seen at the ISPS Handa Australian Open 2012, where she posted an overall 289 to take the share of second position on the leaderboard.
The Ricoh Women’s British Open 2012 was the scene of a nerve-shattering competition, which saw the star golfer finish seventh after shooting a 293 on the leaderboard.
In addition to the two top-ten finishes, she displayed an attention-grabbing performance in a few other tournaments as well. Her first event of the 2012 season—Gold Coast RACV Australian Ladies
Masters saw her in good shape, but all her efforts could garner was 26th-place finish.
She then participated in the Evian Masters. The event proved to be one of Granada’s most crucial battles. She could not finish inside the top 10, but the second round saw her fire an explosive
65. She carded an overall 281 to finish tied for the 21st position on the leaderboard.
Granada struggled all year in an effort to grab the first position at the ISPS Handa Order of Merit. However, Spanish Carlota Ciganda overshadowed every other contender, winning the race.
In addition to grabbing the money title, Ciganda also won the Rookie of the Year award.
Speaking to the media in her latest interview this Thursday, the Spanish star said that she has lived up to the expectations of her fans, and now it is time to set even bigger goals for the
next season.
It took Ciganda to record two victories and a total of 12 top-ten finishes in the season to win both accolades.
