Julio Cesar Chavez Jr: I have prepared hard to counter Andy Lee’s southpaw stance – Boxing News
Julio Cesar Chavez Junior, the current WBC middleweight champion, recently shared his view point on the upcoming title defence bout Andy Lee and commented that he is concerned that Lee is after his title adding that he has been undergoing strenuous training
sessions with Freddie Roach to counter Lee’s left-hand style.
Cesar will defend his title for the third consecutive time against Andy Lee and will headline the pay-per-view organised and promoted by Bob Arum of Top Rank. The showdown will be televised live on HBO’s weekly Saturday night boxing show and the ring for
the event will be set up at Sun Bowl, El Paso, Texas, United States.
Julio, 26, for the first time in his thriving career will take on a southpaw and is currently making great efforts in order to grab a win against Lee. During a recent media interaction Julio shared his thoughts about the bout and the preparations and sparring
he did specially while keeping in mind Andy’s southpaw stance.
Cesar is considered as a highly talented pugilist who has in a very small age collected many accolades, laurels and praise and proudly resides at the World Boxing Organisation’s third rank.
When asked as to what he feels about the bout and Andy, the champion stated, “Andy Lee is a young, hungry fighter who wants what I have - a world title - so

sure I am concerned. I have to be. Andy Lee is young, a good fighter. I trained in Las Vegas for this fight. Since last week, I have been training with Freddie Roach who is teaching me all about how to fight a lefthander. Boxing is my life - it means everything
to me. I am not sure Andy Lee feels the same way.”
Andy, Julio’s Saturday night opponent, is also a top-notch pugilist who proudly resides at WBO’s sixth rank. The Irish pounder has been in a total 29 bouts and emerged victorious in 28.
In addition to being a southpaw, Lee also has pretty impressive knockout proficiency and has pinned 20 of his opponents by knockout. The odds are in favour of Julio due to his past performances against a list of big names and pugilists but when the southpaw
factor is considered the odds somewhat shift towards Lee’s side.
In a recent interview, even Lee remarked that he will take full advantage of his southpaw style and will stun Julio.
