Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. apologises for his behaviour – Boxing News
Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has apologised for the urine test, which came positive following his title loss to Argentinean fighter. Through his Twitter account, the former champion apologised to his fans on past Saturday.
“Any explanation or justification I try to give for the recent events will likely have little or no convincing, so I want to say to everyone that I fully assume responsibility for my actions, as well as the consequences of them,” said Chavez Jr.
“I want to apologize to all who are disappointed or hurt by my behavior. Only I know the causes and it’s my responsibility to confront them. In contrast, I can say that I’ll emerge stronger from these events and I will put forth all my effort to vindicate
my image in society,” he added.
Julio Cesar Chavez admitted that this is time for him to rectify his deeds and take a new start. He vowed to make changes to his standards to go for a rematch against Sergio Martinez clean. Chavez revealed that he is currently preparing himself physically
and mentally to face Sergio Martinez once again.
Chavez lost his title to Martinez last week via unanimous decision. However, Chavez, who was usually considered underrated, damaged Martinez enough to get some respect from the fans. To his worst nightmares, soon the post-fight marijuana test report emerged,
proving him positive. In other words, the little respect Chavez had gained was washed away with the report.
Against Martinez came in Chavez’s first ever loss. He was riding a streak of undefeated fights but it ended when Martinez stood up against him to prove he is a cheat. Similar to Antonio Margarito, now even Chavez will go down in the history of boxing as
one of the biggest cheats of all time.
A fighter with a 45-fight win streak should not have been opting for such measures in order to save his crown. Not only did Chavez washed off his legacy but he even has put his father’s name in jeopardy. For now, Chavez has apologised for his wrongdoings,
vowing he would change his ways.
