Julio Cesar Chavez Junior to enter career’s toughest bout against Sergio Martinez – Boxing Special
Julio Cesar Chavez Junior, the current WBC middleweight champion, is close to achieving yet another milestone of his career. The young Mexican proud, with every passing day, is edging towards an epic clash with a classic heavily acclaimed pugilist Sergio
Gabriel Martinez, the current WBC Diamond and The Ring middleweight champion.
After Amir Khan and Danny Garcia's clash, the Sergio-Chavez junior extravaganza is becoming famous day by day, not only because of the talent the duo possesses but also because there resides a pretty catchy and quite stinging controversy.
No matter what critics say and what odd-makers predict, some things are a fact in this upcoming September 15, 2012 wild ride. Julio, 26, will enter his career’s 49th bout, boasting an undefeated streak of 46 wins.
Moreover, the young lad has nailed 32 of his opponents by knockout, a factor that most analysts are considering a decisive one. Despite being the second best middleweight in the world, Sergio in an unlikely manner cannot find a way or reason to give some
respect to the current WBC champion.
Apart from the scenario he has faced during the last one year (the way he was propelled to vacate the title and so on and so forth), there are several other aspects that motivate Martinez to utter confident and optimistic one-liners which clearly show as
if he will not sweat even a single drop in kayoing Julio junior.
In a recent media interaction, Sergio revealed all such factors that will aid him in knocking the young Mexican out before just the seventh round. Let’s take a look at all those factors and decide whether they are a real fact as far as Julio’s brawling stance
is concerned or are just a bunch of lies aimed at gaining media’s attention.
Julio is massive with a height of 6 feet one inch. Sergio is short heighted with barrel like 5 foot 10 inch body. Unfortunately, despite having the height advantage Julio lacks the reach aspect. Sergio has a 75 inch reach as compared to Julio’s 71 inch.
The aforementioned reach factor when combined with speed and agility clearly shows that it is Sergio who will come out of the ring as the winner. The Argentinean Martinez is well known for being the speediest brawler and the resilient one as well.
Martinez will simply use his reach and will throw a wave of jabs. One single punch if connects will end Julio’s story, who because of his massive body and a 15-pound plus weight more than Gabriel, will face severe difficulty in moving around in the ring.
In addition to the body size and weight deficiency, Julio also faces one big problem. For no understandable reason, despite colliding with just one being name that is Andy Lee, Julio junior secures the second spot in the world rankings.
A glance at his portfolio shows that he has not collided with pretty tough, ace, top-notch or heavy duty pugilists. As a matter of fact he has not taken on any pugilist who resides in the top 10 rankings. Lee also resides at the 13th spot in the divisional
rankings.
Sergio, on the other hand, has nailed high-profile men. He has collected impressive wins over names like Kelly Pavlik, current world number seven and many others. In real sense, it is Martinez who has clearly wiped out the whole division and therefore has
high quality experience which will definitely give the Maravilla an upper edge over Julio Junior.
The above two aspects give us 2 clear points for Gabriel and nil for Julio. However, if Julio uses his massive body and in some way supersedes Martinez’s speed there is a slight possibility that the pampered Julio might defend his title.
The chances for this miracle are least. There is still one aspect that might be beneficial for Julio junior, Freddie Roach. The world renowned trainer is on a continuous losing streak. Two of his prized stable boys have already lost their bouts - Manny and
Amir Khan and he certainly does not want to see Julio, his last and only left precious possession collapse.
Therefore, Freddie will put everything and will shower all his experience and advice over the young Mexican. No matter how much analysis is done, the fight day will clearly tell us as to who is the winner since one punch can easily change the fate of the
whole bout.
The duo will meet at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States for a 12-round head-on collision.
