Julio Cesar Chavez Senior: My son will win the bout against Sergio Gabriel Martinez – Boxing News
Julio Cesar Chavez Senior, former six-time world champion and father of Julio Cesar Chavez junior, is all pumped up to defend and back his son against Sergio Gabriel Martinez.
In a recent interview, he commented he is confident about Chavez junior winning the bout, adding that Martinez has already lost a bout to a Mexican so why not do the same again.
Julio junior is scheduled to defend his WBC middleweight title against World number one middleweight Sergio Gabriel Martinez. In order to promote the bout, all the stakeholders are currently involved in arranging press conferences.
The above bashing of Sergio by Julio Senior also took place at a media interaction held at Biltmore Millennium Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. Before Julio Senior’s confident talk, Sergio pronounced his son as a coward who has always evaded him, adding that
Cesar junior is a paper champion as he has no guts to take on talented pugilists.
Julio Senior, quite irked by Martinez’s trash talk, on his turn, stated, “Martinez is dream come true, with all due respect Martinez has been talking a lot of c**p. My son will have a tough fight but we are confident in his qualities to beat Martinez. I
will admit in soccer Argentineans are better but Mexicans are better boxers and Martinez if you don’t remember a Mexican has already knocked you out and why not have a second Mexican do the same?”
Despite the fact that Sergio was bluntly punned by the former Mexican legend, Martinez did not change his attitude. The former WBC and WBO middleweight champion again uttered some trash talk and claimed that he will pluck Chavez’ junior’s feathers.
The verbal slugging will continue until September 15, 2012, the day of the bout, but one thing is for sure. Sergio and Julio Junior secure the first and second spot in World Boxing Organisation’s rankings respectively.
This scenario alone makes the bout charming and electrifying altogether. Furthermore, both men will enter the ring with substantial experience. Sergio, 37, has been in a total of 53 bouts whereas Julio Junior will enter his 49th career bout.
The Argentinean Gabriel has pinned 49 opponents, 28 of them via knockout whereas Cesar Junior has nailed 46 opponents, 32 of them via knockout. Sergio though has grabbed two losses yet he has also avenged one of it against Paul Williams.
Julio junior, on the other hand, has a dual responsibility of not only defending the title but also his lengthy undefeated streak. Therefore, the bout is worth watching and will certainly mesmerise the crowd at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada,
United States.
