Julio Silva ousts Nicolas Pastor to seal a second round spot - Bucaramanga Challenger 2012
Brazilian eighth seed, Julio Silva, eased through the second round of the Bucaramanga Challenger tournament with straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, win over the Argentine youngster, Nicolas Pastor, on Wednesday. It was not a difficult
task at all for the Brazilian as he cruised to the next round sparing absolutely nothing for his competitor to be proud off.
It was his first face-to-face encounter with Pastor and this triumph will revive great memories between the two tennis professionals when they see each other in the future. 151st ranked Brazilian,
Silva, was right on top of the game from the start; he made some unforced errors that were totally uncharacteristic but those faults had no affect on the overall outcome of the match.
Pastor commenced the proceedings of the match and held his serve to register a good start. Silva successfully held his serve as well. The major breakthrough came in the third game when the Brazilian capitalized on the unforced
error of Pastor to thump him down. Next game confirmed the two-game lead for the Brazilian and he further enhanced the score line with another breakthrough on the fifth game; scores were 4-1 in his favour.
The Argentine’s confidence was shattered by then and he couldn’t force his opponent out of his comfort zone. Both players exchanged break points in the eighth and ninth game that sealed the first set win for the Brazilian
contestant in great style. 32-years-old veteran proved his worth and used his experience to nail down his opponent in all aspects of the game. Stage was set for him to finish off the match in quick succession.
Second set was relatively competitive than the first one but the crucial breakthrough in the fourth game for the Brazilian proved to be the vital factor. There were no more breaks witnessed in the match, which were good enough
to gift an easy victory to the eighth seed contender in grand fashion. This victory keeps the momentum with the Brazilian and it will certainly help him to oust his opponents in the following round of the tournament.
