Question:

July 24 2008 Increase in Min Wage?

I just got a job at a Subway in GA and I'll be making $6/hr. The GA min wage is $5.15. I hear that the Federal min wage will be increasing to $6.55 come July 24. Does that mean my employer has to increase my hourly pay to the Fed min or is there something I'm missing? Does Subway abide by the state or Fed regulations?

  1. It is possible that they will have to increase your salary, but if they have a permit, they can pay below minimum wage, depending on the kind of work you are doing. Talk to your employer about this.
