July Revolution to swing back into form for the Killarney Oils Ltd. Handicap
The Killarney Oils Ltd. Handicap has brought together nine three-year-old runners who will contest for the €5,865 prize money over the distance of a mile and 100 yards at Killarney on Wednesday, 18th July.
Cape Cross’ three-year-old bay/brown gelding, July Revolution, has raced five times during the career, four out of which are part of the 2012 calendar. It was the fourth race of his racing period that got him the debut success.
The three-year-old bay cracked into the racing career on 23rd December, 2011 in the Johnny Murtagh – Ireland & Dundalk’s Champion Jockey Of 2011 2YO Maiden at Dundalk over seven furlongs.
The race was won by Captain Joy while July Revolution finished twelfth in the field of fourteen.
After failing to finish first in the next two races at Dundalk, July Revolution, out of mare, Triomphale, won the Fairyhouse.IE 3YO Handicap on 13th June, 2012 at Fairyhouse over seven furlongs.
Riding with jockey, Fergal Lynch, he did not speed up right after taking his flight from the eleventh stall rather stayed in the rear, and was ninth when there remained two more furlongs to race over. He had remarkable progress by the time there was the last furlong to go and notched up the ranking to the third position.
The three-year-old was quick to lead, and won by the margin of two lengths.
Qualifying as the runner-up of the race was, Love Is The Key who had Ben Curtis onboard.
David Marnane’s under charge raced more than impressively as he rode over competition at the concluding stages of the race and even then won by a highly decent margin.
The Malih Lahej Al Basti owned was then entered as the joint favourite in the Play The Tote Placepot Handicap (Division II) on 27th June, 2012 at Naas over seven furlongs.
The race was won by Bendzoldan, the other joint favourite, who won by 2 ½ lengths while riding under jockey, Fran Berry.
July Revolution finished third with thirteen others racing.
Today will be a fifth time in a row that the Irish gelding will race with Fergal Lynch, and the two have been allotted the second gate to close in on the distance from.
