Jump Rope to lose weight? Does it help?

Does doing jump rope help with loosing weight and toning up. What are some pros and cons of using a jump rope? How often and for how long do i need to use it for for it to work? Thanks

  1. Although I've never tried it myself (for weight loss purposes, I mean), I've heard from others that it improved their cardio health immensely. That's why all the boxers do it, I guess.

    I would imagine that it tones the calves, quads, and glutes, and even parts of the arms and core, to an extent. It's probably good for your bones, seeing as how it's weight-bearing. Plus, it's cheap and easily portable.

    Cons: if you have bad joints...not a good choice. I've also got a scar on my arm from getting whipped by my own rope once.

  3. Jump Roping is a great way to do cardio because it's fun and works a lot of muscles. Also, just jump roping for about half an hour a day should do quite well for your health. My dad is 60 and he jump ropes with his trainer all the time.
