Jump help...plzzzz help. i am a dancer and need help with my jumps...

i want to have jumps like the people on sytycd... like thayne... how do you get them really high? what muscels do i need to stretch? i have a full split in a jump..it just isnt very high. i know that it wont be as good as thaynes because males have a higher center of gravity than females..letting them jump higher. is there a fast (doesnt have to be easy...) way to improve them???

  1. I agree with the first answer, you need to plie before jumping.  


  2. Work your leg muscles. You can plie all you want, but if there is no muscle behind it, it isn't going to help one bit. Stand at the barre, (or a wall in your bedroom) and tendu out from first position. tombe your leg five times to nintey degrees (lift your leg using your front muscles), then switch sides. Do three more sets of this for one week. After that, double the reps in each set. After eack week continue to double the reps. In a month, you should see a very big difference in your jumping.

  3. work on getting a good strong plie before you take off and articulate through the feet! Practice going slow and you'll be doing really high jumps!

  4. Basically to get your jump high, you need to get a good plie before leaping.

    That's all there is to it.

    and try to sustain the leap as long as you can while in the air.
