i read that jump roping for 4 min. gives u more of a fitness gain than running for 4 min. but i don't feel that it is true, i run and jump rope every day and i feel that running is harder but a lot of people say jump ropeing is harder is it all in my head?

Lastly which is truly better running or jump ropeing?

  1. I think that jump roping for 4 minutes would be harder, because  who actually runs for 4 minutes and feels a burn?! No body (depending on the pace)! When I run, I run for at least 20 minutes, and I could never picture myself jumping rope for that long. Jumping rope is something you do for a short period of time and running is something that you do for a longer period of time. I run a lot and know that running is very hard, but i still believe that jumping rope for the same amount of time would be harder.

  2. k think about this, is it harder to jump up and down on your butt or running your butt out in a race? running is harder, no questions asked.

  3. Depends on the pace and environment, but generally running is better for you. Jumping rope for an extended period of time can start to damage your legs -- I should know; I had to jump rope for a few months as part of a rehab program and ended up with stress fractures in both legs from it. Besides, even though a few minutes jumping rope won't hurt you, but it gets boring fast.

With all that said, doing either for only four minutes won't result in any appreciable fitness gain, even if you did it daily. You'll need to do at least 10-15 minutes to start to gain any real benefit.
