  1. i'm  a volleyball player, its easy to get frusterated. And we just started our two-a-days. Just keep working at it. Practice is all you can do for that.

  2. I am a very good jump server, and I toss HIGH and a few feet in front of me then do Left, Right-Left jump then hit. It is almost like a spike except from the serving line. Be sure to TOSS HIGH!! Just takes practice, keep working at it.

  3. Hi,

Try practicing a standing jump serve first.  That is, toss and swing like a jump serve without actually running or jumping.  This way you will learn how to hit the ball with control and hard enough to get it in.  You need to toss the ball up high and swing through the ball - like you are hitting a spike - but you need to hit it upwards a little so it will go over the net.

Once you get that down, you can then progress to a quick jump and then a full run and jump.

    Good luck.

  4. Another tip is to point at the ball with the hand that you are not hitting it with - this forces your shoulders to stay aligned and the ball to follow the straight path (keep the follow through tight as well).

  5. okay, i personally like to toss with both hands (depends on if you're doing the floater or topspin jump serve) to remove all spin on the ball before i hit it. A lot of times when i don't get it over it's because I jump too late. just practice hitting the ball in the right place and practice getting your toss exactly where you want it so you don't have to "chase" the ball when you do your approach.

  6. i had/have the same problem (i'm not allowed to play right now cuz i had elbow surgery)

1st make sure ur toss is the same everytime...it helps a lot

2nd it's just like hitting, decided if u want a 2 or 3 step approach (id go w/ 2) and set urself up accordingly

3rd hit the c**p out of the ball

    4th practice practice practice

  7. My short answer: Top Spin.

If you can serve the normal ball, it should not be too hard to serve a jump serve.

Here is a link that will show you all those basic "steps" of how to do jump serve, but I guess you might already have got such a "cheat sheet" before you post the question.

Based on my personal experience, you might want to do some more warm up when you get to the gym, hit the ball with "full palm" to the floor and let it bounce to one of your teammates... it will help you to get a better "feel" of the ball and better control over where the serve would go.

The secret key to jump serve is:

“Try tossing the ball with backspin to get the desired top spin at contact”. The topspin would help with your serve's direction and consistency.

I have also tried tossing the ball with topspin and then hit topspin… and I’ve seen lots of people doing that.
