Question:

Jumping Higher....?

Ok, i am 5'8'' and i play middle hitter.. i can jump... kinda... my whole hand is over our high school nets. i have alot of power and i know that if i can just increase my vertical by another hand or so over the net.. i could really rock! and thats what i want!

i already weight lift tuesdays and thurdsaday morning and i jump everynight doing my approach trying to jump higher.

any advice or jumping programs so i can jump higher!!?

  1. yeah, I do jump training in basketball and I have to wear weighted vests and jump on high risers I'm 5'9 and I can almost dunk now =D


  2. EASY.JUST JUMP!That's what i used to do(practice sports too)and i eventually started jumping higher than befor.

  3. plyometrics ~ jumping over, up to and down from a box(es)

    12-24" in height  to gain increase in vertical, speed and explosive power. . . I've personally witnessed an increase of 8 plus inches improvement in an athlete's vertical jump and I use plyos with my track athletes for speed enhancement, explosive power and increasing vertical leaping ability . . .info about plyos are all over the net . . . good luck

  4. sounds like you have a good start. i started running almost every day this year and i'm now able to touch a 10 foot rim.

  5. mmy coach says to jumprope all the time..anytime u get a chance it improves your verticle alot!!! hope it helps=)

  6. im 5'2" and i can get my wrists over the net i put tape on my wall at 7'4" and try to get my hands over i play middle hitter to it really works

  7. definately run stadium stairs they suck but they really help.. REPPIN MIDDLES!!

  8. i play JO volleyball and these are some things our team does to get our "jumps" up. you probably just need to work on your core and your calfs. Do some calf raises every night. Ankle weights help to. if you wear your ankle weights like you wear shoes it'll help. you should also do some sqauts and lunges. Working on your core really helps in volleyball too. for the core simple sit-up crunch excercises help. Hope i could help.

  10. Do about 75 wall taps every night.  Stand on toes and jump up and down repeatedly reaching as high as you can on the wall each time.  This will help your calf muscles

  12. When you jump, make sure to bring both arms back as you are leaving the ground and then swing them up as you are in the air. Try to think of it like you're holding on to a pole with both hands behind your back, and then bringing it underneath your feet, past your chest, and above your head while you're jumping.
