  1. heck yea it is good height. It looks awesome.

  2. Thats terrific, show your dad the video and ask him to go through it with you.

  3. i may not be a coach but it looks good.

  4. I thought that was very nice!  I think you should rely on your coach for height advice rather than your dad.  Each skater advances at a different pace.  I bet with more practice and time, your jumps will get higher and higher.  I have always been a very reliable, consistent jumper, even though my jumps do not get me to the ceiling every time.  I would rather land more jumps than be the highest jumper.

I think you are doing just great.

    Keep it up!!

  5. I think it is enough, haha

  6. You seem to be coming down hard on your landing. And I dont think thats what he means, but considering he is your father, I think he means he knows you can jump higher and pull in tighter. Im no coach either, but I think he wants you to make it cleaner, Even though I think its great!

  7. If you have enough height to land a triple consistently, I don't see  a need to push it beyond since you're landing them. I think the height is fine, just that along with the 3Salchow video your landing seems a bit too.. uhhh.. the angle is just really sharp and bent.

Hope it doesn't affect your landings during competitions.

I'd say, instead of worrying so much about adding 1 cm or less if the jump is consistant, work to get the other triples or improve the PCS score in your program! ;)

    Good work!

PS: My dad is the same, he's always telling me that I screwed up something in my practise, I get all hot-headed and moody and then I work on the things I failed in next time I skate.

As long as he isn't *too pushy*, having a person who's always there giving you free advice and is honest about criticism is always a plus. I personally need to get shoved around to work. ^^'

  8. First, he is your coach AND your dad, so he's going to be your biggest critic  :)

Well, all our jumps (skating in general) could always be faster, higher, tighter etc.  If they were totally fine the way it was, then there's no need to try any harder, right?  Perhaps he's saying it as "motivating" factor to keep you challenged!  There's always room for improvement at any level!

I had a coach who I think humored me and told me everything was "good".  Was he kidding me?  Maybe that boosted my ego for a while, but it sure didn't help me in the long run.  I would rather have had a coach who could tell me to my face what I needed to hear about my skating . . . that's how you learn and keep growing as a skater.

When we compete, everyone tones down - sometimes a lot.  So it is important that in practice we are pushing the limits are far as we can go.  When we practice just the one jump by itself, it can be huge.  But when you do it in a program, having to concentrate and have stamina to skate other moves before it and after (combined with the nerves in a competitiion), each jump may not necessarily be as huge.  So perhaps he is thinking of that angle as well.

I think you know about and have skated long enough to be able to recognize what nice height is on a jump is.  You're doing triples now . . . the hard work has paid off!!  As your dad probably helped to get you here, I think he knows a thing or two about taking your skating even further.

(Hey, I'd love to have your jump height and be doing triples!! :P  )
