No one could imagine that a child, who took birth in a Pasthun family on 24 December, 1989 in North West Frontier Province (NWFP), was destined to usher a new bowling era in Pakistan cricket. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Junaid-Khan-c77037 is one of the few fortunate cricketers who come and
shine on the world stage at such an early age of merely 21 years.
Making his international debut in April 2011, the left-arm pacer, has made both the fans and managers of Team Pakistan realised that he has potential to fill the boots of one of the former legends like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193 who ruled over the world
of cricket prestigiously for many years.
Khan came in the radar of his national selectors while he was rubbing shoulders with the banned Pakistani speedster, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cup 2011, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)
haphazardly picked up Junaid as a replacement of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sohail-Tanvir-c90665. However, the teenager did not get a chance to come in action during the 6-week high-profile global event.
Following the 50-over showpiece tournament, the Men in Green flew to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Gul-c94604, was not available for his engagements in the English County Cricket. There was
no other fast bowler to open the bowling attack with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wahab-Riaz-c95839. It was the time when the PCB went for Khan.
For one reason or the other, Junaid could not do well in the series. He took no wicket in his maiden T20I and repeated the same in his first ODI on April 30, disappointing the selectors and heartening the fans. However, the Green Shirts returned successful.
Then in September, there came http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 tour where Khan was granted the baggy green. In his maiden 5-day game at Queens Sports Club from September 1 to 5, the young bowler took one wicket by giving away 64 runs. However, in the subsequent ODI series, he delivered
some eye-catching performances but was still struggling.
After returning from Zimbabwe, Junaid worked day and night in practice nets and training sessions in order to overcome his shortcomings and prepare himself for the future challenges.
Seeing his determination and dedication, the selectors put him in the Test squad for their series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imtiaz-Sheikh-c64290 Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. It was perhaps Khan’s match as he restricted the Lankans
to merely 197 runs by grabbing 5 key wickets for just 38. It was outstanding and all those tongues, which were wagering in his opposition, were forced to hail him. He took one more scalp in the same match.
He went to the Dubai International cricket Stadium for the 2nd Test with the same passion and contributed 2 wickers each in first and second innings to steer his side to win a Test match over the Islanders after a gap of 5 years.
Now, the lad is preparing for the 3rd and final Test that is being predicted to be full of stakes and thrill as it is to decide the series in one of the two teams’ favour.
Khan is indeed a talented pacer who gives keen attention to his ball, running style, the facing batsmen and the fielding positions. Depending on the pitch condition, he turns the ball around with exquisite line and length. If the rising star sustains his
momentum and saves himself from bad practices, the day is not far when he will turn into a glaring galaxy which the Green team can proud of.
