Junaid Khan idolises the great http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292 – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 1992 at Melbourne.
A side strain kept the left-arm fast bowler out of international cricket since the limited-overs series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
The 22-year-old picked up three wickets in the first Test at Galle but was a touch inconsistent. However, the Matra-born bowled an extra-ordinary spell on the fourth day of the second Test at Colombo and wrecked the Sri Lankan top-order with his reverse
swing.
The most impressive thing about the spell was the fact that the fast bowler bowled from around the stumps, which is not a left-arm bowler’s natural angle and he was able to move the ball both ways in the air, which troubled the home team’s batters.
The youngster expressed after the day’s play that he is inspired by the former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 captain, who is considered to be the greatest left-arm fast bowler to have played the game. Akram also used to come around the wickets with the old ball and was quite
successful at it.
Junaid bowled brilliantly last year in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE) against the same opposition but there he picked up wickets with the fresh cherry as well.
"I watched the Youtube video of Wasim bhai bowling round the wicket with the older ball in the 1992 World Cup final. He had also passed on some tips to me. In the UAE I managed to get wickets with the new ball as well. But most Pakistan bowlers
seem to bowl better with the old ball,” the fast bowler expressed.
The budding cricketer further added that bowling fast in the Asian conditions is the toughest job in the game.
"On Asian wickets you have to work a bit harder. It depends a lot on your luck, and the pitch too," he added. "Sometimes if you bowl well, you don't get wickets. If you are not bowling well, you still get wickets."
