Chief Selector of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s T20 team for the upcoming tour of India and admitted that the left-arm pacer has been performing very well at all levels recently.
The limited-over series between Pakistan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 is going to commence from December 25, with the first T20 at Bangalore. The tour includes three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and a couple of T20s.
Junaid was not selected in Pakistan’s T20 squad for the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, much to the surprise of cricket pundits all around the world as the left-armer performed exceptionally well during the tour of Sri Lanka earlier this year.
On top of that, the budding youngster has done a commendable job in the President’s Trophy 2012-13, picking up 41 wickets in seven matches for WAPDA at an impressive average of 16.78 runs per scalp.
While speaking exclusively to Pakpassion, the Chief Selector admitted that Junaid deserves to be in the limited-over squad as well.
Qasim expressed, “He's got a much better chance now of selection for the tour of India. I think he's done enough to earn a call up for the T20 and One Day side.”
On the other side of the coin, Qasim urged http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Akmal-c94595 to improve his shot-selection and said that the right-handed middle-order batsman must learn to convert his starts into big knocks. The Chief selector believes that the cricketer from Lahore has extreme potential and with a better approach towards the game, he can become one of the leading batsmen of the world.
“Umar is a young and exciting cricketer. He's a very fine batsman. He just needs to learn the art of patience. Thirties and forties are not going to hurt the opposition, particularly when you throw your wicket away,” he added. “Umar needs to have a think about his batting and make some changes or he will not achieve what he is capable of achieving.”
Akmal has been out of the Test team since Pakistan’s tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 last year.
