June 27 economic stimulus check?

My economic stimulus check was due to be mailed on Jun 27, according to the IRS website. I have not received the check, nor have I received a letter stating when my check will arrive. I have no outstanding credits such as student loans or child support. My gross income was 87,000. Can anyone tell me why I haven't gotten my check? Or offer a number that I can call- other than the toll free number on the website-? I'm worried that my check got lost in the mail!!!!!! Any insight would be appreciated. :(

  1. The checks are mailed en-masse on various dates, and it takes a while for the USPS to get them out, we received ours about 3 weeks after mail date.  With the July 4th holiday in there, that only adds to the delays.

When you say IRS website to you mean the general schedule (based on SSN) or the actual status form at:

    https://sa2.www4.irs.gov/irfof/IRServlet...

If you have not checked  that, you should.  The dates by SSN are guidelines, for example if you filed your return April 1st, you will most likely NOT be in the date range for your SSN, as your return must be fully vetted before the stimulus is issued.

  2. It sounds like you made too much money to qualify for the stimulus payment...

Phase Out of the Stimulus Payment

The stimulus payment –– both the basic component and the additional funds for qualifying children –– begins to phase out for individuals with adjusted gross incomes (AGI) over $75,000 and married couples who file a joint return with AGI over $150,000. The combined payment is reduced by 5 percent of the income above the AGI thresholds.

Here is an example of how the phase out works:

An individual with AGI of $80,000 and federal income tax liability in excess of $600 would qualify for a basic rebate of $600. Because this individual’s AGI exceeds $75,000, however, her rebate is reduced by $250 (the credit is reduced by multiplying the amount of AGI over $75,000 by 5%). The taxpayer receives an economic stimulus payment of $350.

  3. DJ's answer is correct. If you're single, the phase-out applies after $75,000. If you Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) is $87,000, the entire stimulus payment would be phased out ($12,000 x 5% = $600.
