Jung Chan-Sung gets recognised for his submission move, Twister – UFC News
The Japanese mixed martial art (MMA) fighter Jung Chan-Sung has introduced a new move.
The fighter who is currently a contracted brawler with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has named the move Twister, which is a submission manoeuvre. He first used it against American MMA fighter Leonard Garcia at UFC Fight Night in March 2011. Sung
won the fight because Garcia had to tap out once the Twister was applied. UFC considers the Twister as the submission of the year.
In the UFC community fighters keep experimenting with various moves and combo moves. What the Japanese MMA fighter showed against Garcia was something brutal yet effective. Garcia had no idea what Sung had in store for him. It was only after Garcia went
for the leg of Sung made his efforts in applying the Twister.
The move in itself is something which fans watch in every fight. It starts with a grapple and then the fighter locks in his opponent. First, Sung successfully grabbed Garcia with his legs and arms and then went for the submission. Sung was lying on the mat
as Garcia was on top with his back, struggling to get free.
Sung was in the right position as he placed Garcia’s right arm behind his neck and grabbed Garcia’s head in a lock. The move did not end there. Sung, after holding his neck, twisted it to the right, which was painful even to watch. Garcia’s head and right
arm were at facing the right side while the rest of his body was at the left side.
Garcia’s body above the abdomen was twisted like a soft candy. Garcia could not remain in that position any longer and had to tap out giving Sung the win. With this move, Sung became the first ever UFC fighter to use the Twister submission move for the very
first time and do it successfully.
This win at UFC Fight Night gave Sung his eleventh victory of his career. Before fighting Garcia, Sung lost two straight fights. His win against Garcia not only broke the draught but gave Sung a distinction for using the Twister for the first time.
After beating Garcia, Sung went on to beat Canadian MMA fighter Mark Hominick at UFC 140 in December 2011. He won the fight in seven seconds, which is considered to be the second fastest knockout in UFC history.
