Jung Jae Sung - Lee Yong Dae stun top seeds to win Men’s Doubles title at China Masters Super Series
Korean shuttlers lived up to their tradition as they again proved their worth in the Men’s Doubles category of a major event. While contesting at the 2011 China Masters Super Series, Korea’s Jung Jae Sung and Lee Yong Dae won the Men’s Doubles title by thrashing
top seeds and World Number One duo, Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng of China. The match was held today on September 18, in Changzhou, China.
The World Number Two Koreans left for home with swelling pride as they defeated the ruling World Champions in their home country in scintillating fashion. The Chinese pair completely failed to continue their winning run against the Koreans, who proved their
supremacy in the title-match.
The Chinese shuttlers were better on paper, as they were in tremendous form and have been playing top -class badminton for the last one year. However, the Korean shuttlers proved that they are equal to their opponents as they played a perfect game without
making errors and won the prize in the form of Men’s Doubles title.
Both sides played fast and attacking badminton in the opening points, as they were attempting to create a reasonable gap. However, both pairs failed to accomplish the feat until the one-minute interval, when the Korean players played better badminton which
earned them a small lead at 11-9.
After the break, Jae Sung and Yong Dae accelerated their speed and put more power into their strokes. The aggression of the Koreans was the most effective weapon which forced the Chinese to get into a defensive position. The Koreans took advantage of the
chance and won the set with a margin of 21-17, in 23 minutes.
The second game was stunning for the Chinese shuttlers, as the Koreans were flying in the court with considerable ease. They made no mistake in this set against the top seeds and emerged successful after beating them in fabulous fashion with the result of
21-10, in just 15 minutes. This 38-minute Men’s Doubles semi-final battle ended with the margin of 21-17 and 21-10.
