Jung Jae Sung and Lee Yong Dae capture Men’s Doubles crown at Denmark Open Premier Super Series
Korea’s top shuttlers Jung Jae Sung and Lee Yong Dae have captured Men’s Doubles crown after crushing China’s Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng in the title match of the 2011 Denmark Open Premier Super Series, on Sunday, October 23, at Odense, Denmark.
Jae Sung and Yong Dae, who are currently ranked at number 2 in the Men’s Doubles world standings, delivered phenomenal performance against the World Number One Yun and Haifeng and won the battle in straight games by spending 42 minutes in the court.
The second seeded Korean pair delivered displayed terrific performance against the top seeded Chinese shuttlers, who have recently won the title in the 2011 World Championships. The Chinese pair failed to stop the winning performance of the Koreans and lost
the match in straight games.
The Koreans established their superiority from the opening points of the match. They played a planned and flawless badminton in the opening game and won it without facing strong resistance from the higher ranked Chinese opponents.
In the second game, the Koreans continued their peerless run in the match and again finished it up with a decent margin without any considerable trouble.
Yun and Haifeng failed to play dominating game in the opening set as they made a few mistakes in the opening rallies, which helped the Koreans to set up an early lead. Jae Sung and Yong Dae worked really well at the net and remained in complete control of
the match. They missed no chance to bury the bird in their rivals’ court and won the set by a 21-16 score on the board.
The Chinese pair played positive badminton in the second set and progressed closely until the break. The crowd could not have asked for more attacking game as both sides employed powerful smashes and strong pushes in the whole battle.
After the break, Jae Sung and Yong Dae started to work well at the net by moving fast and established a good lead. The Chinese pair failed to bridge the gap set by the Koreans, who were playing with precision.
The second seeds won the game with a four-point difference of 21-17. The final contest ended up in 42 minutes with a 21-16 and 21-17 margin.
