Junior Assuncao faces Ross Pearson at UFC 141 – UFC News

According to reports by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), the featherweight bout on the preliminary car to be contested at UFC 141 will be between British mixed martial art (MMA) fighter Ross Pearson and Brazilian MMA fighter
Junior Assuncao. The two would meet inside the UFC ring on December 30, 2011 when UFC 141 is held in Las Vegas, Nevada. It would be for the first time that these two fighters would face each other inside the UFC fighting cage.
The 27-year-old Pearson, who won The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 9 Finale in June 2009, would have his hands full when he faces Assuncao. The 30-year-old Assuncao, on the other hand, made his UFC debut in October 2006 at UFC 64 but
lost against American MMA fighter Kurt Pellegrino. He took part in three fights in the UFC and then continued fighting for other MMA promotions namely ShineFights, Xtreme Fighting Championship (XFC) and King of the Cage (KOTC).
For Assuncao, his fight at UFC 141 would be the second inside the UFC ring. He would be confident for he would be coming with a straight win in seven consecutive bouts. Pearson, on the other hand, could not maintain his winning
streak which he made from November 2008 to March 2010. In 2011, he took part in two bouts where he lost one and was successful in the other. He won his first bout of 2011 against Spencer Fisher at UFC 127 in February 2011 followed by his defeat to Edson Barboza
at UFC 134 in August 2011.
Both fighters would be looking to get a win at UFC 141 which would give them a boost in their career. For Pearson, coming back into the UFC ring would mean that he can make an effort in rising to the top in the featherweight division.

According to the reports, the UFC management and officials had confirmed the bout in October 2011 after a possible fight between the two was being discussed by the management. After a verbal agreement by the two, the bout was confirmed
in recent weeks. Pearson would be making an appearance at the featherweight division bout after he recently confirmed reports that he has reduced his weight from the lightweight into the featherweight division.
