Junior Boy’s team group results of the Joola Austrian Junior and Cadet Open – Table Tennis Update
The leading Junior Boy’s team did not perform well in the opening rounds of the Joola Austrian Junior and Cadet Open contested on 18 April. The event is in progress at Linz, Austria, as the Hungarians were the only team to end up at the top position in their
group matches.
The Hungarians were the second seeded team in the event. The team of Magyar trio of Domonkos Kovacs, Do Phuong Nam and Marton Szita defeated the team from Denmark with a three-one score. The Hungarians played hard and with great competitive spirit to take
the victory. The Danish team featured Ruben Jensen, Sebastian Haack and Emil Madsen. In the fourth match Marton Szitare was replaced by Tamas Lakatos .
In the second match of the group round, the Hungarian Boy’s defeated the team of Nuño Gonzaga, João Geraldo and João Seduvem from Portugal. This time it was an exciting three-nil victory for the Hungarians.
For the other top teams, fate did not go quite in their favour. The teams from Croatia, Czech Republic and Slovakia all ended up at the second spot in their respective groups.
The Croatian team of Filip Zeljko, Tomislav Pucar and Luke Facec were defeated by the team from Belarus. They recorded a three-one defeat against the team of Kiryl Baranabov, Siarhel Afanasenka and Pavel Nazarovich.
In the second match for Croatia, they faced the team of Lazar Jankovic, Viktor Rogic and Montenegro’s Irfan Cekic, as they brilliantly won the full five matches scoring three-two. It was a close and exciting win for the Croatian team. The third encounter
was with the team from Luxembourg featuring Eric Glod, Pol Daix and Jules Harles. The Croatian team recorded a three-nil victory against them.
The team from Czech Republic featuring Denis Benes, Ondrej Bajger and Michal Benes ended up at the third seed in the group round. They lost against the team from Belgium featuring Robin Saudemont, Martin Allegro and Guillaume Diouf in a close five match
game.
In the next match, the Polish team of Lukasz Nadolski, Michal Korycki and Adrian Spychala were defeated in straight three-nil matches.
In the first group the Slovenian team won the top position in their category. The team of Ludvik Persolja, Ervin Zelezen and Luka Krusic defeated the partnership of Switzerland-Hong Kong players Philip Merz, Linus Trummler and Wong Ho Hin with a match score
of three-nil.
In their other match they won over the team from Serbia featuring Boris Mihailovic, Ilija Majstorovic and Nikola Grbic. The score of the matches was three-one.
The top teams will proceed to the next round. The event will conclude on the 21 April.
