Junior Girl's Singles and Doubles results of the Austrian Junior and Cadet Open: Table Tennis News
Dora Madarasz from Hungary secured the title of the Junior Girl's Singles Title at the Joola Austrian Junior and Cadet Open. In the eight edition of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) junior event it was the second title of the year for the
17-year old girl. The championship was held at Linz, Austria.
Earlier this month on April 3, Dora won the Joola Hungarian Junior and Cadet Open at Tata, Hungary. She remained trouble-free throughout the championship. She was the top seeded player of the tournament and she proved to be at number one until the time she
reached the finals and clinched the title.
The final of the event was contested on the evening of April 21, 2011. In the final hurdle she competed against Sofia Palcanova from the host nation, who was the number three seeded player of the championship. It was a straight victory for Dora scoring 12-10,
11-7, 11-9, 13-11.
With this second win of Dora and her earlier appearances at the ITTF Junior Circuit she has booked a place at the ITTF World Junior Championship of the year.
In the round of 16 Dora faced Anelia Lupulesku from Serbia and defeated her in four games with a score-line 10,11-5,15-13 and 11-6. In the quarter-finals it was an easy victory for Dora Madarasz against French player Extelle Debonne in straight games 11-7,
11-7, 11-9 and 11-3.
In the semi-final it was number four seeded player Klaudia Kusinska from Poland who faced defeat against Dora Madarasz. The Hungarian player faced the real challenge for the first time in the tournament, while playing against Klaudia. The only time she let
her opponent to win two games against her scoring 11-7,7-11,11-8,11-5,7-11 and 11-8.
In the opening match of the main draws Sofia Palcanova defeated Katsiaryna Baravok from Belarus. Katsiaryna was the top seeded player in the Junior Girl's Singles group rounds. Sofia did not let her proceed further and let her go away with only one game
with a match score of 16-14,11-7,8-11,11-9 and 13-11.
In the last-16 Sofia won with the same match score against Emina Hadziahmetovic from Bosnia and Herzegovina scoring 6-11,11-9,11-6,11-3 and 11-7. At the quarter-final Alina Arlouskaya from Belarus was the player who was defeated by Sofia in five games 5-11,
11-8, 11-7, 11-5 and 11-5.
In the semi-finals Sofia caused the major upset of the tournament and defeated the second seeded player from Portugal. Maria Xiao progress to the finals was ended by Sofia in a match of five games scoring 11-3, 11-6, 11-4, 6-11 and 11-8,
In the Junior Girl's Doubles, there was another upset for the Portugal girl Maria Xiao. She faced defeat at the final hurdle along with Mateja Jeger from Croatia in straight four games scoring 11-3, 118, 9-11, 11-7. This time it was the duo Klaudia Kusinska
and Sandra Wabik from Poland, who clinched the title from the duo.
The Junior Girl's results were almost what were expected at the start of the tournament. The top players went home with the major titles.
