Junior Girls and Cadets team results of the Guam Open: Table Tennis News
Junior & Cadet Open is in progress at Mangilao, Guam. The team events of the Junior Girls and Cadet Girls were dominated by the Korean players on the matches contested on the evening of April 22.
The Korean teams remained successful at the first stage of the championship. There were three-nil victories marked by the teams in each match they contested.
The Korean Girl’s Junior team ‘A’ featured Sin Yen Zu, Ji Soo Ran and Youn Ji Youn. In the first match the team won over the trio of Tanya Guttersberger, Carolyn Li and Leighann from Fiji. In all three matches it was a straight victory for the Korean girls.
In the second match of the group round they competed against team from the host nation, Guam's Yatsio Timothy and Ashley Hall along with Japan’s Miyu Kato. The Korean team ‘A’ won-over once again in all three the matches.,whenever the players came on the
table.
The Korean team ‘B’ featured Soo Ji, Oh Hae Sun and Song Ha Na. In the first encounter of the group round the team faced Anna Du, Lily Phan and Vy Buy top seeded team from Australia. The results were totally in favour of the Korean Girls and straight victory
was the order of the matches. The Korean ‘B’ team concluded the day by defeating the team of Lea Lai Van from New Caledonia along with Valhiria Gaumet and Tina Mii from Tahiti.
Both the team’s secured first position in the group rounds, whereas Fiji and Australia secured second seed in the round and made the main rounds of the championship.
In the Girl's Cadet Team events, the duo of Yoon Hyo Bin and Cheon Jung Ah of Korean Team ‘A’ proved to be undefeatable with their outstanding performance. The pair won over the team from the host nation comprising of Tammy Mendiola and Jenny Kim. In the concluding
match of the group round it was team from Australia ‘A’of Zhang Anshen and Sandy Masen who were defeated.
The team ‘B’ of the Cadet Girls from Korea defeated Australia ‘B’ of Angela Zhan and Antonia Zhang in straight games. In the concluding final matches of the group round the Korean girls defeated the top seeded team of Ola Ratka and Ruofei Rao from New-Zealand.
The Korean teams ended up at the top seeds in their respective groups. The Australian and New-Zealand ended at the second place, but made to the main rounds. The third seeded teams will proceed to the consolation rounds. The Guam team lost in the first rounds
of the championship.
