Anyone got ideas for a Junior High musical? 6-8th graders. They have already done Fiddler On The Roof, Bugsy Malone, Godspell, and The Music Man.

  1. Pippin is awesome and fun, and there's always the wizard of oz..

  2. Oliver, Footloose, Peter Pan, Grease, Pippin, Mary Poppins

  3. Those are all shows that have Broadway Junior versions. Is that what your school generally does? Broadway Junior musicals are good for junior highs, because they make the songs easier to sing for younger performers, plus they tend to edit out content that some junior high parents may object to. Don't get me wrong, the full shows are amazing. But Junior shows often work better for junior high schools.. That being said, some good shows that have both full and Jr. shows are Seussical, Into the Woods, and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Seussical usually does well when it comes to selling tickets. Into the Woods is an amazing intro to Sondheim for junior high kids. (I was in it in junior high, so I may be biased.) Willy Wonka also does well when it comes to selling tickets. (Although I've been in all three of those shows, so they are all close to my heart.) Other shows that have done well in junior high schools in this area are Once Upon a Mattress, The King and I, Cinderella, and Grease. I believe there are edited versions for junior high of those shows as well. (I've seen edited ones of all but Cinderella performed.)

Look at the websites suggested below for more ideas.

  4. We did High School Musical. I know, pathetic lol.

I would suggest Wizard of Oz, though. That's a great musical!

  5. peter pan, wizard of oz, or once upon a mattress
