Junior National Badminton Championship: Aditya Joshi beats Shlok Ramchandran to reach into final
India’s budding shuttler Aditya Joshi has powered his way into Boy’s Singles U17 final after beating Shlok Ramchandran in the Semi-final clash of 36th Junior National Badminton Championship, in India, on Saturday, February 11.
Aditya, who is top seed in the event, had to play at his best to get rid of his passionate rival, Shlok, who was seeded at number 11 in the tournament.
Shlok tried his level best and put up terrific show of top quality badminton but remained unlucky in the final game and lost the rubber-set contest in 65 minutes with a close margin.
In the opening game, both boys entertained the home fans with their amazing skills as they played to their maximum potential and remained equal until the score reached at 9-9. However, Aditya managed to take a small lead of 11-9 until the break.
After the break, the top seed remained in complete control but his rival also played elevated game and levelled the score at 19-19.
The score progressed equally at this stage and reached at 21-21 when Aditya remained lucky in taking two consecutive points and won the set with a tight 23-21 score on the board.
In the second set, it was Shlok who showed his brilliance as he played different game and managed to take a wonderful lead of 11-7 until the break.
After the interval, Shlok remained ahead and did not let his rival to level the score in the concluding half. Aditya tried to play changed game but failed to take any benefit and lost the set with a close score of 19-21.
In the final set, Aditya kept the pace of rallies at the highest level from the starting points. Until the break, the top seed managed a four-point advantage of 11-7.
After the break, Aditya remained on track as he did not lose his focus and spared no chance for his lower ranked challenger to level the score. He ended the final set in an emphatic fashion with a decent score of 21-17.
Aditya won this Boy’s Singles semi-final contest in three games with a 23-21, 19-21 and 21-17 score on the board.
