Junior National Badminton Championship: Balu Mahendra S. powers his way into main round
India’s spirited player Balu Mahendra S. continued his winning rhythm on court as he played with remarkable precision and advanced into Boy’s Singles U19 main round after beating Aswin Satheeshan S. K. in qualifying round of 37th Junior National
Badminton Championship-2012 in India, on Sunday, November 11.
The third seeded Balu, who remained aggressive throughout the qualifying round, stayed confident on court and easily showed exit to Aswin by finishing off the battle in just 25 minutes.
Balu showed urgency in the arena by taking the bird early from all areas and maintained his upper hand over his lower ranked opponent all the way to finish up the clash in straight sets with a crushing margin.
In the meanwhile, Aswin tried to give a good fight in the arena but he failed to place his shots positively and ultimately crashed out without putting up strong resistance against his higher ranked team-mate.
In the first game, Balu was in staggering form as he played with spectacular speed and took over the charge of rallies without wasting any time. His aggression put his challenger in all sorts of trouble on court.
Until the end of first half, the in-form Balu attained a strong position on score board by establishing a sufficient gap.
After the break, the lower ranked Aswin tried to show aggression but could not stay positive and remained trailing far behind.
On the other hand, Balu continued hitting powerful smashes in targeted areas and grabbed the opening set easily with a stunning total of 21-10.
In the second set, Aswin increased his speed to stop his rival’s progress but failed to remain positive on court and started to commit mistakes.
However, Balu impressed the crowd with his incredible play which helped him to set up a convincing lead on the board until the one-minute break
Balu continued putting up reasonable show after taking rest for one minute and managed to restrict his opponent on 21-12 to seal off victory in a spectacular fashion.
The impressive Balu finished off this straight-set battle in just 25 minutes with a stunning margin of 21-10 and 21-12.
